The Bryn Mawr Apartments

Chicago, Illinois

Significant upgrades and enhancements were done to this 231-unit apartment building that was originally constructed in 1927. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995, the developer wished to restore this building while maintaining the mix of studios and one-bedroom apartments as subsidized housing for single-working people.

The project scope included: exterior masonry repairs and restoration; window restoration and replacement; new roofing; new mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems; new elevators; lobby, corridors and apartment renovations. New commercial spaces on street level were also created for future tenant build outs.

Completed in 1998.

Construction cost: $ 7.5 million
