Design Approach

SWWB Ltd. enjoys working with clients who have a good understanding of the architectural process. Many of our past clients have been architects and design professionals. We prefer clients who like to be personally involved in the design process and want their interests rewarded in the final project. We choose experienced clients who understand how other past projects may have left them short in terms of the design elements or the design process.

Our clients should have an understanding of the design process and how the design can change through various planning stages. We want them to have a vision of the product beyond the plan itself. When clients become more involved in the design process due to their interaction with us, they can take better advantage of our expertise and in the end receive a more sophisticated design as well as real solutions in the finished product.

When we design a new construction, we believe that not only should it be extremely well built and distinctive, but it should also respect the surrounding community by reflecting the heritage of that community. We strive to make sure that each project is compatible with the surrounding environment and fits into the community. There are different elements that make a project harmonious within a community, such as the scale of the project, the materials that are used, and developing positive feedback from the community before actually starting a project.

In the same vein, when we work on renovation projects, our goal is to make sure the finished product reflects the heritage of the original building. A renovation should never distort or detract from the original design.

When designing a new residence, the key to making the design successful is the placement of the important elements in a home. The places in a home where people spend most of their time should always be central to the house. We believe that in each home there should be places for quiet contemplation such as a library or an office. By creating these quiet places, it gives people an opportunity to bring work home and spend less time at the office. They can separate from the rest of the house to work or study, but can just as easily take part in the activities of the home if they choose. This makes a house an integrating factor in bringing people’s complex and busy lives together. This adds a quality to their life.

When it comes to educational projects, SWWB Ltd. has dedicated its design efforts toward creating and renovating educational facilities that meet the needs of students and teachers. We understand the importance in developing environments that are conducive to teaching and learning.

We believe that a good design project is conservative in that it conserves materials by reusing them whenever possible, and also making use of durable materials that are sustainable, that last and wear well. Our approach is contextural by being responsive to the existing environment and to the needs and tastes of our clients.
